Until the flow of illegal immigration has been reduced to negligible levels, there can never really be a resolution of the illegal alien issue.
Even if all the illegal aliens in the U.S. today received amnesty, a future crisis would immediately start brewing as the flow of illegal aliens continues. The U.S government is not in control over who enters the United States. The government doesn’t know how many people illegally enter the U.S. each day or how many illegal aliens are in the U.S. Authorities can only
guess at the number of persons illegally entering the U.S and that number is estimated to be between 300,000 to 500,000 each year. How can President Bush seriously propose a guest worker program and amnesty for illegal aliens under present circumstances. How can a discussion of the resolution of America’s illegal alien problem be seriously undertaken when the problem grows each day at a furious pace ? The Bush Temporary Worker Amnesty Plan is like a man who sees the basement of his house being flooded due to a broken water pipe. Instead of shutting off the water main, he runs down to the hardware store to buy a sump pump. His present proposal specifically ignores the problem of the tidal wave of illegal aliens
crashing into America while offering a plague as a solution to the illegal alien crisis. So while studiously, recklessly refusing to improve border security, President Bush has proposed a measure which will exacerbate the problem catastrophically. Bush’s
Temporary Worker program is an attempt to hoodwink America. The idea that the army of illegal aliens now present in the U.S. will return to their country of orign because a “temporary work visa” has expired is laughable. They will simple go back to their status as illegal aliens living in the U.S. Moreover, Bush’s proposal will allow illegal aliens to receive driver’s licenses, Social Security Numbers, and to bring their family members to the U.S. That the President would suggest with a
straight face that such persons would willfully return to their native countries after visa expiration shows either an astonishing disconnect with reality or a cynical belief in the gullibility of the American populace. The U.S. Government refuses to deport illegal aliens now why would anyone believe that the government will start deporting illegal aliens when their Temporary Work Visas expire ? He is attempting to “pull a fast one” and create the illusion of a solution to the problem while
actually setting the stage for even greater problems in the future. President bush won’t admit this, but people granted temporary worker visas and people brought into the U.S.A. as Temporary Workers will never go back home. They will be a problem to future Americans who will then be forced to assent to demands of new amnesties for many more millions of illegal aliens. The economy is undergoing a “jobless recovery” and has lost millions of jobs during the Bush presidency. That he would actually propose a program whereby American employers could import workers in unlimited numbers is astounding. The Bush proposal if enacted would be a huge bonanza to employers but it would be a
slow motion train wreck for America: Wages already driven down by the competition from illegal and legal immigrants would certainly be further depressed therby reducing the standard of living of most American workers. The new Bush initiavive
proposes to increase annual legal immigration as well as it calls for an increase in the number of Green Cards issued annually. |
